This page contains a timeline of Infernis, as well as many of the rumors most of the characters would know of the organisation.

The Birth of Infernis

Not even those with hands blooded from hunting the truth, have discovered the origins of Infernis, though plenty have their theories. Although, everything points to Infernis having begun during the Cold War.

Some speculate that it was wealthy business men of America, sitting in their ivory towers, smoking and plotting the future of humanity. Others suggest that it was in the murky halls of the USSR, where bureaucrats greased the wheels of the nation with the blood of their subjects.

In the end it does not matter how it came to be, what matter is they control the stage from behind the curtains. Many wars, crises and acts of terror since the 50’s have been grand schemes of Infernis.

The Council & The Speaker

Infernis is controlled by the Council. The Council is a group shrouded in rumor and mystery, as none of its members are known and neither is the selection process. All that is known of it is the Speaker, an elusive and charismatic figure that works directly with the council to convey information from the Council to the members of Infernis.

The First Purge

Ever since its inception, Infernis had been slowly growing in power. That was until the Watergate scandal. An error so egregious the Council could not overlook it.The poor intrigue, the sloppy work and the general incompetence could not go unpunished. It did not matter if you were innocent or guilty. It was not just about justice, it was about whipping the members into shape.

During one of the organisations Red Gallas, many members were taken to be executed. Business men, politicians, celebrities; all put down like rabid dogs. The purge would work as a core tool of the Council, the nuclear solution when the members overstepped and needed to be taught a lesson.

With this event the word “purge” became almost taboo within the institution. Members that had survived the massacre were left traumatized, and the new people quickly learned it was unwise to dig into the corpse pile looking for answers, lest you join them.

A New Frontier & the Second Purge

With the invention of the Internet, Infernis found a new font of information to corrupt and control. Quick to capture a new market, the Internet was like clay; easy to change and mold to their desired shape. The elusive algorithm a good excuse for the common man when Infernis put their invisible hand on the scales of public trust.

The Second Purge was in 2001 following the Enron scandal and the burst of the dot-com bubble. Failed investments and compromised agents made Infernis weak, and not wanting to appear so to its members, the council ordered a second purge.

This time more organized than last. Instead of the council conducting their own ritualistic slaughter and getting their own hands dirty, Infernis did what they do best: delegate, shift blame and layer guilt into a web that would drown anyone.

This time the rule was simple: those who could not be trusted to be competent enough, would be eliminated, and it was Infernis’ own members who would have to carry that guilt. Kill or be killed. In the end, the Council is the only one you could trust.

The Third Purge

In the year of 2025 another grand failure befell Infernis. Despite their best efforts, the agents tasked with executing ‘Project X’ failed, and nearly revealed Infernis to the general public. The Council was furious, clearly they had yet again been too accepting of incompetence, and the members needed to be taught a lesson. Infernis would host its third purge. The Red Galla of 2026. The event you will be attending.
